It happened in Manorville at around 10:15 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 25.

Juan Carlos Osorio Tejada, age 34, of Rocky Point, was driving a 2016 BMW southbound on Moriches-Middle Island Road, just north of Sunrise Highway (Route 27), Suffolk County Police said. 

The BMW then crossed into the northbound lane and crashed into a 2021 Honda Civic, according to police.

The driver of the Civic, Jonathan Starrantino, age 19, of Shirley, was airlifted by Suffolk County Police Helicopter to Stony Brook University Hospital in critical condition, police said.

Tejada was transported by ambulance to Long Island Community Hospital in East Patchogue for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, according to police. 

Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks.
